MOBILE PRODUCT REDESIGN
Five years turning static courses, chaotic file handoffs, and a childish-looking product into a design system, a motion practice, and a mobile experience that reversed EverFi's renewal problem.

01 — MOTION & INTERACTION DESIGN
Bringing K-12 to Life
Principal Designer · EverFi K-12 · Partners: Google, NFL, Intuit
THE PROBLEM
Students experienced courses that felt like static slideshows. Research showed learners wanted real interactivity not just another button to click.
MY APPROACH
Partnered with Design Director Ann Schoew to overhaul the visual language around motion. Prototyped animations myself to prove the concept, then recruited and directed a five-person animation team to make it sustainable testing with age groups to learn that younger students loved choice-driven interactions while older students preferred decision-consequence animations.

FEATURE SPOTLIGHT
NHL Hockey Course
Designed an interactive puck-shooting mechanic using a directional slider paired with Lottie animation states pairing every player choice with a pre-built animation outcome.
★ 90% positive feedback · rated the library's best course by teachers
FEATURE SPOTLIGHT
Brain Breaks
Playful, Lottie-animated pauses built into longer modules a psychological reset with no learning objective, like an animated budget game with a film-reward payoff.
★ Hundreds of reusable animation assets built into the system
02 — DESIGN SYSTEMS & OPERATIONS
Building the EverFi Way
Principal Product Designer · EverFi K-12
THE PROBLEM
Every designer worked differently, and every handoff meant someone losing time just orienting themselves to a stranger's file structure. Multiple contractors kept distinct build styles, and stakeholders couldn't tell what stage a file was in.
MY APPROACH
Shadowed the design team, partnered with PMs and stakeholder leads, and traced workflows through development to find the real failure points. Rebuilt the component library to kill redundancies, then unified all three product teams around one three-stage process: lo-fi with Learning Experience and dev, visual production with design, and hi-fi for final handoff, with clear ownership at every stage.

03 — MOBILE PRODUCT REDESIGN
Reinventing Achieve
Lead Designer · EverFi White-Labeled Financial SaaS (Achieve3000)
THE PROBLEM
Built desktop-first, but 84% of usage was on mobile, mostly in 5-minute bursts during commutes and breaks. White-label bank partners called the visuals "childish and outdated" for adult learners, and drop-off on desktop-optimized flows hit 42%.
MY APPROACH
Read HEAP analytics to understand real usage patterns, then shifted to mobile-first, thumb-zone layouts with a sticky Quick-Link Navigation framework for jumping between content. Shortened copy for scannable single-column reading, built a new accessible-contrast color palette with Design Director Ann Schoew, and architected a modular workflow so the visual team could move faster.
