Everfi: Bringing
K-12 to Life
My role: Principal Designer • Everfi
Product & Systems
Motion & 3D
When I joined Everfi, students felt disconnected from courses that were essentially static slideshows. User research made the problem clear. One student put it simply: "Interactive means more than clicking a button."
I partnered with Design Director Ann Shoew to overhaul the visual language starting with motion. I proved the concept by animating core course elements using Lottie, showing what the platform could feel like before we had a team to scale it. As demand grew I helped recruit and then led five animators, building the workflow into a sustainable production system.

A key pivot came when we realized character animation without audio felt unnatural. Arms swinging, no voice. We evolved toward motion graphic storytelling, animating environments, transitions, and concepts instead.

That shift led to Brain Breaks. Short immersive moments that gave students a mental reset between heavy content. Learning about the NHL and taking a break by shooting a puck into a goal. Traveling through a city by canoe or UFO in FutureSmart. Moments designed to delight a the K-12 audience before sending them back to the content heavy learning.

We built hundreds of standardized Lottie assets and created something that outlasted the project itself. Teachers consistently ask for more. Account managers hear it in every renewal conversation. Animation went from a nice-to-have to one of the primary reasons partners stay.

ABOUT
Jason Reyna
Lead Product & Visual Designer
I’m the Lead Designer who never left the trenches.
My career has been spent navigating the space between immersive storytelling (Sony, Coca-Cola) and rigorous product architecture (Clayton, Everfi). As a Lead Designer, I believe the most effective systems are the ones that disappear allowing the craft to take center stage. I've led the integration of AI tools into course design workflows, using them to move faster without losing the craft.
I stay in the craft because that’s where the problems actually get solved. Whether I’m mentoring a team or building a WCAG-compliant library, I am focused on one thing: shipping world-class work at the speed of thought.
