Building the
Everfi Way

My role: Lead Designer • Everfi K12

Product & Systems

Everfi was producing world-class educational content but the design org was running on chaos. Contractors brought their own build styles, every file was structured differently, and stakeholders had to relearn where projects started, where they ended, and what was complete every single time with every single designer.
Before I built anything I listened. I shadowed designers, met with project managers and stakeholder leaders, and followed developers to understand what caused confusion at every stage of the process.
What came out of that was a unified workflow across all three product teams. I rebuilt the component library eliminating redundancies, then defined a simple linear process, lo-fi with Learning Experience and developers, visual production with the visual team, hi-fi final handoff. Three stages, clear ownership, no ambiguity.
The results: Timelines dropped from 6 weeks to 4. Team efficiency increased 25%. Handoff went from guesswork to pixel-perfect consistency.

The workflow was pretty fragmented—designers were using different methods, which left stakeholders totally confused. Every time someone joined a file, they had to spend time just re-orienting themselves. I realized we needed a unified way of working to stop the constant 're-figuring out' and keep the project moving forward.

I realized we needed a unified way of working to stop the constant 're-figuring out' and keep the project moving forward.

To get everyone on the same page, I worked with the library team to create a dedicated set of components for our builds. I also established a standard pattern for the designers to use, which brought some much-needed consistency to the project. Even though it was a challenge to get started, it ended up saving us a lot of time and made our process way more efficient.

By simplifying everything into these patterns, we weren't just saving time on this one app—we were establishing a blueprint for all future Everfi product builds. It took the guesswork out of the process and made our entire workflow much faster.

ABOUT

Jason Reyna
Lead Product & Visual Designer

At Everfi I lead product design and motion for a SaaS learning platform serving millions of K-12 and adult learners through partners like Google, the NFL, and Intuit. I built the design system that cut production timelines by 33%, recruited and directed an animation team that transformed static courseware into motion-rich interactive experiences, and led the mobile-first redesign of a flagship product that reversed a decline in renewals.

Before that I spent seven years as Digital Design Director at Tombras leading a multidisciplinary team across product, UX, and digital for clients including Freightliner, Lodge Cast Iron, and Coca-Cola. Lodge saw a 112% increase in online sales.

I still open Figma every day. I work alongside my team with AI tools like Cursor and Claude to move faster without losing the craft.

ABOUT

Jason Reyna

I've spent 15 years making digital things people actually feel.

My career spans immersive ARG campaigns for Disney and Sony, award-winning relaunches that drove real revenue, and interactive course experiences used by millions of people every day. I live in the space where visual craft, motion, and interactivity converge — and I stay hands-on because that's where the real problems get solved.

Whether I'm directing a creative team, building a design system, or getting into the motion work myself, I'm focused on one thing: experiences that look and feel like someone actually cared.
